Not sure how many people are running into this, as I believe it may be unique to v16, but we would like to be able to control when the donation form shows up on the payment page. It used to be that it would not show up for contributions, but with advent of transactional memberships in v16, the donation form now shows up if you have a membership in cart at checkout. I understand that for transactional memberships this makes sense, but not for philanthropic memberships that are already marketed as donations/contributions. If we let the money flow to On Account, then the form won't show up, but if you assign a fund to the contribution type in LTR_TNEW_CONTRIB_TYPE, then the form shows up. Ideally, our memberships would flow directly into the fund so we wouldn't have to manually turn On Account money into memberships.
In summary, I would like to suggest that there be a toggle or control for whether or not the form shows up based on the contribution type, membership type, or some other function that allows flexibility so it still shows up in other places. For now, we're turning the donation form off entirely, but we'd love to have it on for folks buying tickets come January.
