Enable customer to pay balance for existing order online on TNEW

Provide a method for a customer to pay off the balance of an existing order (whether partially paid payment plan order or invoice) online. Ideally, a customer could log in to the account section on TNEW, click on an order with an open balance and have the order loaded into the cart.

This already exists (in part) as a customisation. A link to TNEW triggers a stored procedure enables the customer to make a payment matching the order value. The payment is offset against an On Account balance and you can use that On Account balance to payoff the original order. The process is a workaround rather than a solution, so an d "end-to-end" solution would be preferable.
