Hello,
Our zoo rents out Electric Conveyance Vehicles (ECVs) for a fee. We process these rentals from two different booths, located on opposite ends of the park. We needed to create an incentive for our guests to return the ECVs to the correct location. Our temporary solution has been to collect the guest's drivers license. This is of course not ideal because we are then temporarily responsible for keeping track of these IDs for the day, and at closing time we inevitably have IDs left over that we have to deal with. We would like to eliminate the ID system, and set up a refundable deposit within Tessitura.
Have any other members of this community set up a refundable deposit for rentals before? If so, what have you learned?
Many thanks,
Mel Carter
We actually have deposits set up for our venue rental here at The Neon Museum, that we then refund once the event is over and the space meets our requirements (i.e. no damage). The process works well for us. It does take time to go into each order to refund the deposit which can be hard because of the volume that we deal with in regards to events. You also end up having to pay the credit card fees when the order is completed and then when the deposit is refunded but if that is not an issue, I think it works great for us.
