Hi MZATUG!
I'm curious how everyone is handling attendance for digital programs or virtual tours, in particular those programs that don't require registration like Facebook live, Premiere videos, or virtual gallery/site tours. Do you count views that just come in the day of the "live" event? All views within 1 week? 1 month? In perpetuity? And are you entering those numbers into Tessitura somehow?
We currently have a handful of small, controlled on-site art classes and a number of virtual events/programs, most of which require a registration so we're able to get good attendance data. But content that's just out there for open viewing has us scratching our heads. We want to count something but also need the ability to clearly define what we're entering since attendance data is used extensively on grant applications.
Thanks in advance!
Jeff
Hey Jeff,
These are great questions and we're thinking about them as well. Some metrics, such as views of a website, will be hard to measure since we can't know how many people were looking at a screen. With events that include registration, we're considering asking people to let us know how many people will be there. For example, if we're offering something that will be shown to a class, how many students will attend/view? For virtual membership events, how many people will be joining you when you attend?
We're also interested in reporting on the attendance numbers of participants for virtual or in-person events that take place inside of our outside of our venue. To track those separately, we intend to use the new "Performance Types" feature to categorize events as virtual, onsite, or offsite.
Dan
Thanks, Dan! We're operating similarly for virtual events where there is a registration - we're asking for the number of expected participants and just using that number for attendance. We've had some virtual art classes over the last year as well. They're small, so it's been easy for our faculty to mark attendance on their list of students which is later entered officially into Tessitura.
Similar to your proposed use of performance types, we've created a virtual facility in Tessitura and are using that as a way of tracking on-site vs. virtual attendance. It also helps with TNEW content because we can continue displaying the location and folks know at a glance the event they're registering for is virtual.
