Refunding fees using the Event Cancellation Utility

Hey all,

I hope you managed to enjoy some of the sunshine today.

We now charge a transaction fee when booking for shows, and have recently cancelled a performance using the Event Cancellation Utility.  I've seen that the utility only allows the option to refund the fee per order/seat and not booking, therefore if there is another booking within the same order the fee isn't refunded. We would want to refund the fee in this scenario as they would need to pay it again when rebooking and we dont want to charge them twice.

Would any of you have a solution for this as currently we need to go into the orders and refund one by one.

Thanks,

Zoe

  • Hi Zoe,

Not sure if this is helpful, but we used the event cancellation utility about a zillion times (haha) last year. We’ve found that the booking fee does get refunded by the utility but only after the last element of the order is cancelled using the utility. So, for example, when we were running it 4 time across four different perfs that were all a part of a package, the fee would drop into the report for cancellation with the last of the four perfs. I think that means there may not be a way of getting it to work for your scenario, where you are leaving some elements of the transaction unrefunded.

     Best of luck!
