Pictures for news stories

Hi again

Another question I have is how you get a picture to show on a News Story.  I can't see how to add this on, so all our news stories just have our default logo image on them - which is a bit dull.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

  • Hi Heather,

Your post piqued my curiosity!  I downloaded your app but couldn't tell which tab you were using for your news feed.

I went ahead and created a custom tab in our app which uses a WYSIWYG style of content entry that allowed me to enter images as well as links out to the articles that I chose for this test.

I'd be curious to know how you've got this set up on your end as well.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Chris
We are uploading our content into TNMP through the Instant Encore site – is there any other way?
The News stories are uploaded into the Buzz tab, I have just re-named it D4News

In Instant Encore we click My Buzz, add a link which goes to a news story on our main website.
We just get to write a short text and everything else pulls from the original story.  There is no option to add an image at any point, so it just puts the default image from Instant Encore which is our logo.

In a custom tab do you have to enter the link, image and text in as HTML?
I don’t regularly work in HTML but have a passing knowledge.  If you could share a sample HTML code that would be helpful.  Of let me know more about your WYSIWYG entry system.

Dance4 are the only Tessitura client that have gone only with TNMP, not with TNEW and I really love it!

    Thanks very much.

  • Hi Rachel,

It looks like there isn’t a way to change the image being used on that tab.  Though it sounds like perhaps it should be added as an enhancement request.

The Custom tab does use HTML, but there is a built-in WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor that can be utilized.  It’s very similar to MS Word or Outlook.  I’ve added a quick screenshot of the editor to my profile (http://www.tessituranetwork.com/Community/members/christophershort8349/files/TNMP/default.aspx) if you’re interested.  The designer is the WYSIWYG but there is also an HTML tab along the bottom for those who prefer to code. J

You’re able to set the size, padding, and location of the image as well as format text to add links.  What I’ve done is pretty simple, but I’m sure more could be done given time and effort.

TNMP is a great tool!  I just wish we had the resources to use it more than we currently are.

    Cheers!

  • Hi Chris

That's really helpful.  The WYSIWYG is a bit basic but it could be done that way.  Agree it woudl be better as an enhancement request though as it would mean all the layout would be set with the little curved edges that match the rest of the app.  I'll raise this on TASK.

    Thanks again

    Rachel
