Hello all… hope you’re all well. We’ve been hard at work (no, really) working on song options for TLCC Orlando 2023. We’re thinking about adding a bit of a musicals element this time around and wanted to get your suggestions. The general caveats are that they need to be able to be done with pretty standard, rock band instrumentation (not a full orchestra or heavy programming) and we need to be able to do them (well) with very little rehearsal and be well known enough, or catchy enough for our audience to love. For a general feel, a few of the songs we’ve short-listed are: - Out Tonight/Seasons of Love – Rent- Origins of Love/Tear Me Down – Hedwig and the Angry Inch- Ease On Down the Road – The Wiz- Land of Lola – Kinky Boots What songs do you think we should consider? Drop a comment below. Links to a favourite version are most welcome.
I can see some of the campy songs delivering some killer parodies! (Seasons of Love, anything from Annie, ALW or Les Mis), Here's some I can think of that could fit the bill for orchestration, while being recognizable and not too difficult:"Let's Hear it for the Boy" (Footloose), literally anything from Rocky Horror, "No Business Like Show Business" (Annie Get Your Gun), "Big Spender" (Sweet Charity), "Aquarius" or "Let the Sunshine In" (Hair), "All That Jazz" (Chicago), "Anything Goes" (Anything Goes), "As Long As You're Mine", "Dancing Through Life", "The Wizard and I", "What is This Feeling" (from Wicked). <<<some of those would be great parodies too! Something from Spring Awakening could be a blast...depending on what it is and where the line is for "appropriate".
