Devil in the Kitchen structure

Fellow devils:

Can't wait to play this little ditty with you!!  I've listened to Ashley play this a million times and I'm following the same structure his band is but I wanted to write it down to be sure we're all on the same page.

Fiddle breaks into an A and B section and both are 8 bars in a fast 4/4.

Band intro
Fiddle A|B (16 bars)
Band- 8 bars
Fiddle B|B (16 bars)
Band- 28 bar riff
Fiddle A|B|B (24 bars) and out

Tempo-wise, I'm about where the song is on the recording (or youtube which is where I've been listening).

Sound about right?  If anyone's been doing it a different way, let me know.

  • Kristin – I think your bars match up with mine, we just gave the bits different names.  I’ve attached mine in case it helps.

    Hi Mark:

I wasn’t planning on playing anything but backup to you guys during those “band” sections.  I’m basically following this version exactly (listened to it and counted out the bars as I have listed below) for my parts but you guys can riff however you want during those intervals.  I just need to figure out when to come back in if you aren’t counting out the bars!  Let me know how you think we should do this.  Apologies in advance if my classical background is a bit rigid here—I can try to loosen up J

Kristin - Sounds good to me. Are you playing during the "band" sections too? I'm planning on repeating the same power chords (or dropping out when it is just bass and drums). Does that sound right?
