Hi Everyone,
The total $ amount of chargebacks from our bank has increased unbelievably since we opened a new venue this past summer. It looks like they purchase the tickets close to show, just at the limit of 6 and then fight as a chargeback, usually, but not always, when they have not been used. We think it is when they are not able to sell the tickets. There seems little we can do except pay the chargeback. We are in the process of setting up 3DS with our bank and Windcave and it is my understanding that this will put the responsibility on the provider - the card issuer - rather than on us, the merchant. It is new to us and taking time to get implemented.
We are wondering if other venues are experiencing this and what solutions have been implemented. Also are any of you using 3DS?
thanks!
We are dealing with similar issues as well and working turning on 3D Secure (and similar options with other card providers). If you are using it, has 3DS been helping you? While some of the orders are indeed ticket resellers, it looks like many the orders for us are a much broader credit card fraud effort, where the card user is not the actual card holder. This looks like it might turn into quite a big issue for all of us using the TNEW purchase path. We are trying to identify ways to add more friction to the account creation and purchase process, such as two-factor authentication or other bot prevention tools. Some of the behavior looks like it might be at least semi-automated, and the data entered is often junk.
