TNew -> World Pay -> Hosted Payments: refunds beyond 45 days?

Is there anyone out there who is successfully doing bulk refunds when an event is canceled?

That is using the built-in utilities without having to call each customer to re-acquire an appropriate credit card number.

We have been moved to World Pay hosted payments as part of the AWS RAMP migration and are not currently receiving tokens.

For customers who purchase within 45 days of the attempt to refund we should be good.  We can refund by reference.

However, the early buyers who are buying more than 45 days prior to the event.  We can not refund by reference.

Our understanding is that we would have to call each of these customers in order to get their credit card information again or refund via something like a paper check.

There is a thought that tokens might help with this process.  However, we are not clear if TNew -> World Pay Hosted Payments can return a token into Tessitura for such a scenario.

If you are out there living in this space I'd love to have a conversation.  If you have a solution that would be even better. :-)

  • Hi Tom,

    Tokens would help you.

We are in a similar situation.  To the best of my knowledge, WP doesn't tokenize or at least they don't for consortia whose members have unique tax id's (like ours).

We were very close to moving to Windcave, which does offer tokenization.  Then Tessitura Payments was announced at the convention.  So, we're in a holding pattern pending more info about Tessitura payments.

For what it's worth, you can run the event cancellation utility to put money on account.  Once the money is on account you could process individual credits to cards if patrons provided the full number to you.

Other than that, yes, you are facing a manual process for any purchase made longer than 45 days ago via WP Hosted Payments.  (It's pretty ridiculous.)

    Sorry, I'm not more help.

If you need more help, I recommend opening a support ticket and asking them to put you in contact with Patrick Schley.  He'll be able to clearly explain anything I haven't.  And he's the best resource for info related to payment processors.

Dana is correct, if you are tokenizing your cards and CC_STORE_ACCOUNT is set to Yes, cards will be stored from TNEW Hosted Payments. For Worldpay organizations the Event Cancellation Utility will attempt to refund the stored card if the transaction is older than 45 days, so this helps with the manual processing scenario.

Feel free to reach out via ticket if I can provide any further guidance!

    Best,
    Patrick

  • Patrick, we have an open Ticket 380541 - WorldPay hosted payments refunds beyond 45 days.

We are not yet doing tokenization, I'm wondering if I can set up a call on this topic?

  • ,

    Thanks for your reply.

Is there anyone out there who has successfully done the type of refunds we are discussing here?  TNew -> WorldPay Hosted Payments -> Tokenization -> Event Cancelation Utility.  If so how did it go particularly for your > 45-day customers?
