Hi all! For those of you at TLCC this year, I've signed up to host a Community Discussion about rethinking Galas, going beyond dinner and a show. I hope if you're able you'll join me tomorrow, August 8 9:45 am - 10:45 am for Rethinking the Gala!
Colleen, this was such a great discussion! It was great to see the different ways folks are approaching events these days. Appreciate you hosting.
Hey all, for anyone who was unable to join us (or anyone who joined but wanted notes) I typed up notes from the discussion!
Beautiful notes, Colleen.
I've caught a few webinars by Chad Barger, and he recommended getting a majority of funds from sponsors. Ticket sales alone are unlikely to cover costs since events are expensive and sometimes extravagant.
Love the idea of partnering with small businesses, I could see this working well with family programs you guys mention. If anyone has a program with small business partners, I'd love to pick your brain. The Neon Museum's program is called Neon+ and is offered as a membership benefit...
Thanks for the resource, JM! Also seconding the call to talk about existing small business partnerships that folks have created. I don't know who went to the panel on Community-Centric Fundraising (this year or last year!) but to me finding those ways to create reciprocal support with community businesses is a great way of pushing our organizations toward that as well.
