How to Report on Soft Credits?

Hello! Our Major Donor officers have a scheduled Fund Activity Report where the list currently acts on Owner (the other option being Initiator). Since creditee is not an option, a large soft credit was not included in the report. Are there other reports that anyone uses to identify new soft credit gifts that have come in?

  • I'm dealing with a similar issue regarding creditees. There don't seem to be a lot of places to pull them into the picture. I have a list of people to thank for their donations, but the person on the list should be the creditee, not the owner. I'm almost thinking of reversing the process and actually entering the contribution under the creditee's account (making them the owner) so their name will pull through in output sets and Analytics.

  • Katie, you could try using the New Contributions Report. That does have a section for including Creditee type.

  • Thanks, Colleen! I will try this. I suspect that the issue with how they're using the Fund Activity Report is that they're attaching a list to it, which limits the results, e.g., when you attach a list, then you can only choose OWNER or INITIATOR (creditee is not an option) for "List Acts Upon". I think if they just DON'T include a list and maybe just cross-reference their list against the results of the report, then they'd get all contributions to their selected funds (within their posting date parameters) including any soft credits.

  • Following :) Our development team is running into the same issue. And is it true that there is no option to pull "creditees" into an Analytics table? I was in the Contributions cub yesterday trying to see if I could build something in Analytics, and could not find Creditee anywhere.

  • Soft credits should be available in v16 in analytics. I'm very much looking forward to that upgrade!

  • Aren't Memberships set up to show creditees at their appropriate donor levels? I confess that I'm new to this--my org is just trying to figure out how to work Memberships into our stewardship and cultivation processes, so happy to hear if I'm off track, but my instinct would be to look at some of the Membership reports if you're built out in Memberships...
