Fundraising Remits and Tessitura Merchant Services changes

Hi All,

My organization is looking to move to Tessitura Merchant Services (TMS) within the year, but I was just made aware of a pretty major change that is kind of a big deal to our replies by mail. TMS requires a CVV for all credit card payments. As of right now we accept credit cards as payment by mail. If I am not mistaken you aren't allowed to ask for CVV on remits, so that payment will be in question once we move to TMS.

At my present organization this is a moderate inconvenience, IMHO any barrier to guests/customers isn't a great thing. At the organization I used to work for, this is a pretty darn big deal. I'm wondering about how organizations who have made the switch to TMS have done with this change. Has there been a lot of push back from customers/guests? What have you changed with your process or messaging on remits to comfortably guide people to pay by credit card Not through the mail?

I'm very interested in what others take is on this, it really took me by surprise.

  • Howdy neighbor! We were all set to go with TMS a few months ago when we realized the CVV requirement. We've now postponed the implementation because of the CVV requirement in TMS. We can't stop asking for credit card donations and ticket sales through the mail, and we also don't have the capacity to make follow up calls to every single mailed in credit card transaction. Subscription renewal season for our box office would be a nightmare! I'm hoping that Tessitura is working out something to not require CVV, as I have a feeling that we're not the only two organizations that aren't ready to give up mail transactions.
