Hi All, In preparation for our new fiscal year I'm thinking about how we can better separate out and report on our Major Giving gifts vs all of the other individual gifts we get. Currently we only make that distinction by adding the major giving officer as the worker on gifts that are "major giving" gifts, the other individual gifts don't get a worker. This can be prone to error and is pretty clunky as far as reporting goes. We are going to make separate sets of funds for each Major Giving and Individual Giving and thought for a moment about having separate Campaigns as well so we can set separate goals and have beautiful dashboards to track progress. As we brainstormed through this we realized this could be an issue for appeals. Only one Campaign can be applied to each appeal but if the fundraising campaign is for something general, like a broad calendar year end campaign or something, gifts would come in for Major Giving and Individual Giving. We use Designations for things like Honors and Memorials, so that's not an option.I was wondering how do others keep these two areas, Major Giving and Individual Giving, separate?
Thanks,
~ Jenny
Hi Jenny. At the Stratford Festival, we use funds to distinguish between Major Gifts from other general operating gifts. Our membership programs also have their own funds but also their own campaigns.
