I have had the opportunity to use the order import utility quite a bit this year and the one challenge that we have faced with our imports is preventing the duplication of constituent profiles. We have found a workaround by using the review mode of the constituent import utility to identify potential duplicates, but it would cut down on the amount of time to complete an order import dramatically if the order import utility could share this function.
