Marcus Johnson(He/Him)- Systems & Web Developer, Omaha Performing Arts

Hello, all my name is Marcus and I am a Systems and Web Developer with Omaha Performing Arts. My role covers the full tech stack for our websites, which often includes maintaining, developing, and designing applications. I’ve been at OPA for about a year. My tech experience is mainly in cybersecurity and gaming spaces; having competed as an E-Sports (League of Legends) athlete, as well as a member of the hacking team. My programming languages are SQL, C#, Linux, and JavaScript. In my downtime, I am an avid practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, enjoy gardening, and PC Gaming.

While it humbles me to meet such a dynamic community as this; I cannot wait to listen to all of your experiences. We simply wish to provide bridges to better the Developer experience, more Developer enablement, and advocacy.

Chris Pratt - Lead Application and Web Developer, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

My name is Chris Pratt (not that one), and I am the Lead Application and Web Developer for the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH), in Houston, Texas. I’ve been at the Museum for nearly 13 years, where I’ve overseen three (and soon to be four) iterations of our website, starting as a Python/Django site handed over to us by a third party, to an on-prem C#/ASP.NET MVC site, to now, a C#/ASP.NET Core site running on Kubernetes in the Azure cloud.

It’s been a wild ride, made all the wilder by the transition to Tessitura with our latest iteration, two years ago. The Museum started our implementation on Tessitura before the pandemic began but went live right during the heat of it. Building an entirely new site and infrastructure, with custom integrations with the Tessitura API, while also transitioning to remote work, in the middle of a pandemic was challenging, to say the least. We were fortunate enough to have the budget for a Tessitura API implementation expert to be assigned to our project to help me learn the ropes, but that experience taught me both how fortunate I was and how important having a community where knowledge can be shared and people can help each other is, in general, and especially to those who might not have the option of contracting help when they need it or when it can be covered by a project budget.

It is my sincerest hope and express goal to work with my community co-chairs to help build and strengthen that support network, to enable as many members of our community as possible, even if they aren’t developers by trade, to take advantage of the more advanced features and flexibility made possible by things like the Tessitura API. We are all made better when the community is made better, and I look forward to meeting and working with all of you to achieve that goal.
