Social Distancing Seating Mode

I wonder if there has been any discussion about creating some sort of automated way of applying hold codes on two seats next to and one row in front of constituent groups that are seated - something like a 'social distancing seating mode' that could work with SYOS on the website.  If I select seats for myself and my kids, we would be sitting in contiguous seats, but after those seats are selected, the two seats next to those seats and the seats in the row directly in front and behind would automatically apply hold codes.  That could be helpful as organizations are reaseating into late summer/fall performances.

Thanks for any thoughts on that.

I hope everyone is staying healthy, safe and sane during these difficult times.

Best,

Monica

  • Hi Monica,

Thanks for the suggestion! This is something that we've heard come up in a couple of conversations, and we are considering what may be useful in the application. We'll keep the community posted if this moves forward as a feature in the Tessitura Application.

    Hi Monica,

We've been thinking about the best approach to apply hold codes next to seats that have been reserved as well. The solution we are planning to offer our current clients uses a point of integration to our seat selector, SmartSeat.

Our plan is to use the API to apply hold codes to seats next to (left, right, in front and behind) the seats that are reserved in SmartSeat. As customers select seats, SmartSeat eliminates these barrier seats in real time, so as new customers arrive on the map they will see large sections of unavailable seats.

The hold code application logic is something we can integrate or help duplicate into other Tessitura sites if you are interested in discussing this further. We have outlined our current thoughts on the topic in a blog post on our site at https://adagetechnologies.com/automating-social-distancing-in-your-venue/.
