HTML Acknowledgements in v16

I'm in the early stages of working on email acknowledgements in v16 in our Dev environment. Currently, we only send acknowledgements via snail mail, so this is going to be a big improvement but I expect there to be a lot of changes. One thing I'm running into is what to do with people who purchase a membership but who decline their benefits. Since we send letters manually currently it hasn't been an issue -- in those cases a sentence is added to the letter to confirm that benefits were declined. But I don't see a way with the current acknowledgment rules to have the system not fire off the standard letter or to send a different one in this case. Has anyone else worked on this yet? I don't think my dev dept is going to very satisfied if I tell them that everyone has to get the standard email and then they have to follow up with a second with the DB details.

Thanks!

  • Hi Anne, we just launched the email acknowledgements and are very happy to have less paper (and all the work that comes along with paper) going out the door.  Upon launching, I found that selecting the email acknowledgement is manual...for example, we have both the mail ack and email ack firing for all our contributions and if we have an email address, we delete the mail ack before finalizing.  I was hoping this would be automated in that the ack rules would "look" for an email address and fire the email ack based on that.

Given that there is a manual selection of the ack when entering the contribution, I wonder if you can have a second email ack with the verbiage about the benefits and select that one prior to finalizing the contribution/membership.

Just a thought...I'd by happy to chat further about it!

  • Hi Sue, I think that might work for memberships that are entered in the application -- I will try it. Thanks! However, it won't work for ones purchased via TNEW, unfortunately. Although, I'm not sure that there is a way it could work with TNEW with current functionality since we determine declined benefits with a custom form.
