Add-On Plug in - Use Case

Hey orgs that use the Add-on Plug in,

I have a question on how you use this plug-in. We are currently using flex packages for experiences at our museum. For example, you must purchase general admission, then we have additional offerings of a tour or another experience. Right now we are using flex packages, where it requires the admission, but the other items are option. If you go with the package that does all three options, there is a discount. We are looking at using the plug-in to get away from flex packages.

Does your org use the add-on in this way? Where you have a required admission and then other offerings? Does it make the purchase process easier for your guests?

  • Would this work for a VIP ticket for an event? 

    We have 4 Museum After Dark parties per year (Halloween, Christmas, Mardi Gras, and then spring/summer based on whatever is going on in the state). Starting this past Halloween we just began offering a VIP ticket to these events. The problems we ran into were A. we couldn't cap the amount if tickets within the performance (so if we wanted 60 VIPs but 700 party tickets, we had to go by the 700 performance capacity). and B. some people were purchasing just the VIP not realizing the also had to purchase the party ticket in order for VIP to be valid. 

    We tried to build a flex package for it, but it got to confusing and too hard to sell (both at front desk and in TNEW), so we ended up scrapping it. Would this plug-in work for that?

  • I think if you made another performance with just the 60 seats, you could add that to the add-on.  I think you could probably add those constituents into a list to use for special access areas if you wanted to utilize that functionality. (We haven't used that in production, so lots of testing and use cases would be needed).  You'd definitely want to think through what QR codes you would send, and how you would determine the customer is a VIP when they entered ( unless you were scanning the vip ticket separately in a different area).

    Offhand, I think I'd probably look at making a VIP zone in the facility, and then selling either a VIP ( which includes the regular ticket ), or just a regular ticket on the same performance screen with the different pricing.  it would eliminate people buying the VIP only.  However, I may not be understanding your complete requirements obviously.

    The add-on most likely could keep you from selling only VIP tickets, but it is still possible for them to remove the original ticket and just have the VIP on their order.  So it wouldn't be fool proof, and would require a little mitigation for that possibility.

  • Would a VIP price zone get rid of the capacity issue? Meaning could I have a Zone of 60 in the same performance as the zone of 700?
