So we just got v16 in our TEST system on Monday. And I gave everyone on staff very clear instructions of "Don't go into TEST unless specifically asked for testing purposes."
I thought that was reasonable. But apparently some members of my staff don't like listening to directions! I worked remote the last two days and came in to my two Shift Leads being all excited saying "Oh we played in TEST yesterday!"
Since they can't follow directions, I would like to take it away from them so that they physically have to follow directions because v16 won't be there anymore. Is that possible to do? I'm sure they'll have to be in their proper User Group and not System Admin, which at this point I don't mind doing.
You're on TNHS, right? There are two ways. You can just disable their accounts in the Test Security Tool. You also have an opportunity there to change which Security Groups they have access to, so if you simply wanted to limit their access you can do that as well (alternately, I've occasionally granted increased access to users in Test, since it's typically less of a concern). The other method is to ask TNHS support to remove the client application for those users. In our case we have a Dev environment, and we have meted out access to that in a more limited way than we normally do for Test.
So TEST controls TEST? (meaning if I change something in Security TEST it will effect Tessitura app TEST?)
And where would I find how to disable TEST in TNHS? Unfortunately I cannot disable their entire account as they still need PROD to process transactions at the Front Desk.
Yes, the Test Security Tool controls security over the Test environment. When you do a copydown from production those settings are all changed back to match production, but in between you can make changes which will affect the Test environment.
To change which applications a TNHS user has access to in their Citrix dashboard I believe requires a support ticket. So you would request to them that they remove the Test Client application for such and such a user.
I'd go with the Test Security myself, though, since you don't have to wait for a support ticket to process and something you're going to want to change back in short order.
I just opened a support ticket because part of it is a little complicated. Basically two of the Users need to stay in System Admin in LIVE but can get switched into their VS Lead User Group in TEST to get v16 taken away.
