Advice for proofing Results pages

Hi DBAs, wondering if there's a consensus on proofing results in segments? How in depth is your proofing process?

Personally (and I'm not a DBA I'm a development coordinator), I typically proof a few dozen records. I have gone up to about 100 records before, but it's usually less. Are you proofing a percentage of results, or are you proofing based on available time and confidence in results?

Looking forward to hearing more to help streamline the process in my department. Thanks in advance!

  • My first step is to look at the count report.  I look at each segment and determine if it seems high or low. I special attention to any segments that were newly built (rather than imported from our extraction that holds frequently used segments).

If the count looks outside of what I would expect, I will check segments until I either determine what went wrong or until I have confidence that it is correct despite being outside of my expectations.  This number can vary from 1 to 20.
