So we have a YES/No custom field and I want to make it an output filter on contribution but my brain is not letting me make it work. Any advice would be appreciated.

I believe you would just need to put the custom field in the Filter Element In TR_QUERY_ELEMENT_PARAMETER.

In TR_QUERY_ELEMENT_GROUP, do you have a value in the Data Where column? If so, that would create fixed filtering that can't be changed in an output set.
Sometimes Tess saves the values as "Y" & "N", sometimes it's "yes" and "no". (Depends on your keyword set up.)
Nothing in Data Where Column, using Contribution Group as the custom_5 filed is in VS_ELEMENTS_CONTRIBUTION

Looks like everything should work. In the Filter Element column in TR_QUERY_ELEMENT_PARAMETER, is the value custom_5?
I want the Filter to give the option of Yes/No not use LIKE with text...
It might also use TR_GOOESOFT_DROPDOWN and store the Yes/ No as 1 or 2
