We have a desire to "easily" store a hyperlink on a record somewhere. Can this be done as an Attribute? Or is there any other field that we could put one?
Use Case: Grant Writer wants to add various hyperlinks for tracking purposes. The simple answer is to cut & paste the web address text link from whatever field into a browser, but I'm trying to take away any friction - she desires to simply click a link. Also, I want to avoid me having to code it on the back-end every time somehow (although, I would do that to bridge the gap to keep her in Tessitura).
Any experience or thoughts on this?
Thank you in advance!
What about uploading a PDF to the documents screen with the hyperlinked URL? She would have to open the file but then she could just click through.
Good idea. Thank you for that - could be a good alternative. I haven't tested all the fields, but I was hoping somewhere, somehow (Plans would be good) there would be some field on a record that would work as a link.

Yes, URLs can be stored as a text attribute, though they are not clickable in this form.

Clickable links are definitely do-able in SSRS reports. Not quite remembering if this is possible in InfoMaker or not.
Curious if you've tried this method and how well it has worked for you?
The reply by Michael Dorsey inspired me to think about this idea again, do a little searching on the network site, and then eventually file an Idea on the topic:
Store Hyperlinks in Constituent Documents

Thanks Gawain Lavers! I've voted for your idea. Hopefully more people will see it and put their support behind it.
I'm curious if you've considered using Digital Addresses, found in v16 on the constituent profile under Contact? The main idea was folx social media handles but it's also used for urls.
We're in the v16 testing phase right now. I immediately thought to try that, but it doesn't look like those become clickable when stored. Perhaps I'm not using it properly? We're trying to find a way to put a clickable URL in a constituent record.
Michael Dorsey, I just tried this in my dev v16 environment and I'm having the same experience -- I can add the digital address, but it's not clickable.
A workaround that probably isn't at all what you're looking for and I'm sure you've already considered would be to store them on this page and when you want to click on them, copy the URL, press F1 to open the help browser (or just go to an open browser on your desktop), and paste the URL.
Hi Katie Lachance-Duffy! I like that option, personally, and find it to be a fine workaround; however, I don't think the audience requesting this functionality would like the extra steps involved. I may have to pitch your workaround as the solution for now, but I hope the idea that Gawain Lavers posted gets a lot of attention. Thank you for the valuable input!
