Good morning!
I've been asked for a dashboard with ticket sales by month for two different years Oct-Aug. Is there a way to make the months in my column chart show up starting in October? I figured out how to get them to start in January, or in alpha order, but I can't wrap my brain around starting on a specific month.
Thanks!Anne
Ugh. I feel like every example of having a non-natural month progression involved a setting that governed display for the whole system.
Maybe the best thing would be to break out each month into a separate widget? That way if they come back in a few weeks saying that they want to see the sales from May-April you just have to do a few mouse drags.
Or does this actually connect to something for fundamental for your org, like a French-style fiscal year?
I was afraid of that. I'll start with sorting by Jan-Dec and see if that will be sufficient before breaking it out into 12 different widgets for each year.
Hi Anne,
If you use the ORDER DATE Months in Date field on Rows or Categories for your widget, and also filter on that field to Months Oct-22 through Aug-23, then the months will display in order. You can also change the displayed Month description in the widget from 10-2022 to October if you like.
Then with a ticket sales value in place, duplicate the value and from the options for that value select Quick Functions > Past Value > Past Year, which will render the ticket sales for any given month in the widget, but from 1 year prior.
Thanks, Chris! I used Attended Date rather than Order Date and it worked perfectly.
Thanks, Chris! This is an issue that has plagued me as well. Happy to have this solution in my toolbox. I added in seasons in an attempt to explain the complexity of having multiple seasons on sale in the same month. I'm not sure if it comes across...but it makes sense to me.
