Total Seat Order Date Base Value

Hi everyone,

I am trying to determine the "value" of admissions tickets our Donor Level Members have been receiving to see if we need to perhaps adjust our thinking about what access they receive.  We use Price Types to indicate the donor redemptions so I am trying to find the value difference between what they paid, and what they should have paid if they paid full price. Does that make sense?  So I have Price Type as my Row Total ticket Count, Total Ticket Paid Amount, Total Order Date Base Value and Total Variance to Order Date Base Value as Values and Season as Column.  Is this doing what I am hoping or is this field not what I think it means? Sorry, I am pretty new to Tessitura.  Thank you!

  • The price marked as base is generally the price you consider "full price" (some may have business rules where that's not exactly the case, but assume for now that's what "base" means). Order Date Base Value is the base price as of the ticket's order date. In other words, this was full price at the time of the order, regardless of what discounts may have been applied to that ticket in that order. Seat Current Base Value is the base price right now. So if there were price events dated after the order date, but before right now, the base price when the ticket was sold may be different than the base price right now.

So, going back to your question: when you're thinking about "had they paid full price", do you want to compare to what was full price at the time of their order? Or do you want to compare to what the full price is right now? (or whatever the "last" full price was if you're talking about something for which sales are over) It sounds like you do want to do the comparison as of the order date. If so, then I think you probably have what you want. However, if you wanted to compare to the "now" full price, then using Seat Current Base Value would do that.
