Order count not matching single sale order report

I feel like I may have asked this before, but I have a widget that gives me a total count of web orders for a given timeframe. In the past, I thought this had matched the Single Sale Order report for the same time frame, but this quarter it is off by nearly 200.

My formula for # of unique order ids is count([Order ID]).

My date filter is at the dashboard level. I tried turning it off and adding one at the widget level, but that didn't make a difference. My question is -- which is correct? And can anyone explain why they don't match?

Thanks!

  • Do you sell tickets using the General Public account? (Constituent ID = 0) The single sale order listing by design excludes those orders. The other thing I noticed is your widget is filtered on Mode of Sale Category, but the report has explicit modes of sale and channel selected. While it may be that these should amount to the same thing based on your business practices, I recommend removing the Mode of Sale Category filter from the widget and swapping in the same Modes of Sale and Channel as in your report filter, just to rule out some misalignment there. I know you mentioned the filtering on both order and performance date in the report shouldn't make a difference, but it's still worth - as part of your troubleshooting - making the filters on the widget exactly match the report and see what happens.

    Hope that helps!

  • We don't use General Public on web orders -- we don't use guest checkout, so that shouldn't affect the total number of orders. I've played with all of the filters for MOS catgory, MOS, and channel in Analytics and I get the same number of orders no matter what.
