Formula field reverting to text?

I have a formula that, every time I check on it (still editing this widget), one of the fields has reverted from the usual highlighted blue rectangle to just [text]. I can replace it or delete the number 2 and it'll pop back in no problem, but be flattened again next time I check.

Are there any common mistakes I could be making that cause this? Will the formula continue to function the same way even with this happening?

Here is the formula for reference. The [zone2] field near the end is the one causing issue. The [zone2] field is filtered to the same values as [zone] on the third line. Would that cause this?

This is not the first time I've seen this happening, but can't remember how (or if) I fixed it in the past. Thanks in advance for any insight!

Editing to add: [zone2] and [zone] are filtered to the same values.

  • This sounds like a Chris Wallingford (Sisense) issue. Otherwise, you could attempt to rename the "Zone2" to the zone description. Sisense might be getting confused due to three closely named fields (Zone, Zone1, and Zone2). I rename them all the time so that I can quickly see what I'm filtering in the formula. To change the name, right click.

  • This is a known Sisense issue, Gabrielle. As you've discovered, the workaround is to delete the text and re-add the field. The most frequently occurs when copying a formula and pasting into another formula. If you encounter this when expanding a saved formula, I expect that the formula still works and allows saving prior to expanding it, but that after expanding it, and one of the field tokens becoming text, it no longer lets you save until you've fixed it. The root cause is unknown at this time. We will continue to track it as DEV-16814: Formula parts sometimes revert to text rather than tokens for data fields.
