What is the easiest way to compare this year's to last year's contributions?

I started my first dashboard. This year's contribution info looks ok so far, but my boss wanted to compare this year to last year.

This is not what we want, though Disappointed

What is the best way to edit this widget? Either by calendar year or fiscal year (July through June)?

  • Thanks Gabrielle. I had a look at the sorting months thread but I think it made me more lost!

Bar is fine, but I think dates can be narrowed down to Nov. 1 to Dec. 31. I'm trying to hone in on end of year efforts (and last year we missed some  appeals/sources).

Any ideas how to use partial calendar dates, comparing current year to prior year?

  • I did see there was a date filter. However, there doesn't appear to be a way to add 4th quarter this year *and* 4th quarter last here. Here is the widget.

I turned off the dashboard appeals filter, since it only applies to the current year.

I turned off the most recent years filter, since it was capturing all contributions.

I found the calendar (date) filter, however it only shows 2022.

    HELP. Slight smile

  • Hi JM, I'm unable to log into tess and send another screenshot at the moment, but try this:

    • Delete the date filter and reactivate the fiscal year filter on the right. Also, hover over the fiscal year filter for a sec and make sure it's in the dimension we need. For the notes below I would use Fiscal Year from the Contribution Date dimension
    • On the left side of your widget, add either the Calendar Month Sort or Fiscal Period field from the Contribution Date dimension in the X-axis section. Then hover over the field and click on the little funnel shape that appears in the top right corner. Select/deselect as needed.
    • Add Contribution Amount (or whichever field is to be measured) in the values section
    • Add Fiscal Year from the Contribution Date dimension to the break by section

Let me know if that gets us any closer!

  • I think the changes make sense. Really need to monitor our sources/appeals moving forward... Thanks Gabrielle, I could follow your instructions!
