So if I'm a Web session, and I've got a promo code and nothing in my cart, and I want to get myself back to a default promo code and mode of sale ... is there a method that I could employ to clear my promo without starting a new session? Or do I have to have another promo code to switch into if I want anything to change?

I'm not really great with web stuff but our web developer gave us a way to reset the cache for a performance which seems to work in these situations.
Probably not helpful but there it is... :)
We have a similar thing to Beth, not sure of the exact workings but our web developers have a function which I believe ends a cookie with the promo code data/amends the session data and then we include a link on each production page after a promotion code has been applied that reads:The promotional code applied is not valid for all performances. Please click here to remove the code and check availability for other dates.
Once the user clicks the link it returns to the same production page with the original seating/pricing availability.
