Web Source Issue

We’ve recently come across what seems to be a bit of a glitch with our web source codes when we offer presales or special web discounts and I’m curious if anyone has experienced something similar.

 

The majority of orders are recording the proper source code based on the promotion code that is entered on the site, but a small handful are tracing back with the generic web source. Obviously the patron has been able to log in and has used the proper promotion code, as they’ve bought tickets during the presale or at the discounted price. We’ve tried logging in and entering the promotion codes in every way that we can think possible, and can not seem to replicate the issue. It isn’t a huge issue, as it is usually only a small number with each promotion, but it’s quite baffling at the same time.

 

So if anyone can offer any insight it would be very much appreciated.

  • The one time I saw this happen was during an hour where some start/end dates didn't overlap as expected. It turned out that the orders that came through with the default web source AND the discount happened that way because the offer was in our main web mos and the pricetype was actually showing up without needing to enter the promotion code. By the time we started troubleshooting it, we couldn't reproduce it on the web because by then the pt and offer had both started. Then we looked at the start dates of both and saw the pt unintentionally started an hour before the offer. So it might be worth looking at all the start dates involved. But if you're getting new orders coming through with the generic source but can't reproduce it then it's probably something else...
