Flex pkgs online and pmt plans

Hi,

We are working offering a flexible package option online. We are running into issues because the packages are unseated and not assigned to a particular zone (they can have more than one depending on which concerts they choose).

To overcome this issue we have modified the flexible orders to credit a patron’s account as a gift certificate for the amount paid for the package and then force a CSI that lists the concerts etc they want to book for.

Now we have the issue of not being able to allow instalment plans against a gift certificate – I’m assuming because it’s not a product with a line item, it’s a payment method in itself.

I am wondering if anyone out there is selling flexible packages online and able to use instalment plans and how this is being done?

Thanks in advance

Natasha

  • We had that issue -- traditionally we sold packages with three price
options, but behind the scenes the box office understood that price levels
mapped to different sections in different the different venues that a
packages performances might span. Originally I had looked into building a
custom system table that the box office could use to define equivalencies
across venues, but in the end they decided that they were comfortable with
customers being able to choose their seating section (we have a brief
"unseated" sales period, during which seating is based on rank, after which
we open it up, and customers can select their own seats) performance by
performance. The order then translates into a proper unseated
subscription. I do capture "second choice section" for each performance,
and that information (as well as some other preferences) is passed along as
    a CSI.

It's clearly better for our customers (more flexibility), and customers
had always been able to do this with our flex packages anyway. We still
offer the three price option on our paper forms to make filling out the
paperwork easier on our customers, but running through a series of web
forms is way easier than paper, so the extra work is hardly onerous.

You can't do a payment plan for gift certificates because gift
certificates are basically cash, so you'd be letting your customer offer to
pay you later for money now. You might trust them that much, but it would
    be an accountancy nightmare!

    Thanks for your reply!

I was wondering how you went about enabling the customers to choose their seating section when there are more than one depending on the concerts chosen and then have them ‘unseated’ for period of time. Does this come through as a line item? How does the rank work? The gift cert is working to capture the money we have charged the customer already, but we are thinking now we might have to go back to the drawing board.
