Hey folks.
We've had some access testing done on our TNEW site and I'm looking for anyone else who has gone through this?
One of the bigger pieces of feedback they had was that the screen reader was identifying content that isn't visually displayed on the screen. For example, these heading levels:
“heading level 2 Cart Contents
heading level 3 Items
heading level 4 Item Summary
Name:
Authentic Dancers"
Has anyone come across this before or have any suggestions? It's not a project stopper but obviously best if we can improve the way a screen reader interacts with the page.
Hi Tim,
Paul from the Product Team here. It is great to know you all are focused on making your website accessible to all users. Besides the accessibility features that already exist in TNEW, beginning with v16 we will be making significant upgrades across the product for users including more screen reader support, better keyboard navigation, and much more. Look for more information in our Help System soon.
With these items you noted, we have included off screen content in order to provide an experience for users using a screen readers that is as similar as possible to those who are not using a screen reader. Because the Cart details can be visually understood due to the design of the page, a user using a screen reader would miss out on that visual hierarchy, thus the labels.
Let us know if you have any more questions or feedback as always.
Thanks,
Paul
