I have a simple question.
What software do you use to monitor the website and domain?
We had two incidents since past a few months.
1, Power supply was down because of hail storm.
2, Credit card server hung again (everybody knows this bug), but it hung at 1:40 AM at Saturday morning.
We are trying to find something robust to response these kind of things.
So please help.

Internally we use a mix of tools to monitor stuff but have found that sometimes what looks up on the inside isn't up on the outside so we also had to invest in a monitoring service. There is a great tool we found called AlertSite.com. You use a browser to record a transaction and then look to see if anything has failed.
We run a fake credit card transaction every 15 minutes and monitor the home page and the _monitor.aspx page every 5 minutes. This has helped us catch some really odd performance issues as well as things going down hard. You should definitely check it out.
