Images on TNEW

Hi everyone!

We are taking this time to potentially spif up our TNEW site, and I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share their site and how they are utilizing images.  I don't love how the images can't be formatted if we put them on the production season level, I think it highlights different sized images too much (my personal preference).

I'd love to see some examples of how you all are using images (and where) to get some ideas/ inspiration.

Thanks so much!

  • Hi Kari,

Here at NIDA we went live this morning with TNEW v7, utilising a Quickstart template and we're very pleased with the result - https://supporters.nida.edu.au. The most difficult decision was which image to use as the hero - it needs to have the rather curious size ratio of 12:1.

As for production season images, we don't offer much ticketing outside our own in-house student productions but we have a general rule that any/all images should be 200x200 pixels. Our Marketing team easily crops/resizes images using Photoshop.

The only exception for this is when we have to have a sponsor/parner logo displayed but that is done using the height and width elements in the URL. This can take a bit of trial and error to ensure the images (if there's more than one eg https://supporters.nida.edu.au/3132) are well sized and spaced relative to each other.

  • Martin,

Thank you for your help so far. I am going to have our graphic designer resize some production season images to see how 200 by 200 would look. Once the images are resized how would I grab the URL so I can insert that into the Tnew admin? Would the resized photos need to be added to our marketing site (rpo.org) first?

  • Hi Dan,

We chose 200x200 because we like the production images to be square and consistent. 200x200 is also easy to remember and delievers a reasonable resolution.

Your images need to be stored on the web - your RPO site would be the most sensible - where they're able to be viewed publicly (ie without having to log in to your site) and must have an https:// URL or they won't display.

    Hope this helps!
