Shared basket

Hi

I was wondering whether there are any consortia that are currently offering customers the ability to book tickets from a number of its member venues within one purchase (ie one shopping basket). It would be great to be able to see how it's working for you and whether there are any particular problems you might have that we should watch out for.

Thanks!

  • Claire,

There are a number of organizations doing this in the Tessitura community.

In Pittsburgh we have been doing this for single tickets for the past few years. We are currently in the middle of a long overdue site redesign right now to extend our capabilities online, and to address some of the issues that come with a one stop web shopping experience.

Within our group there were a number of political questions to answer. You may have identified some of these already, here are just a few items to think about.

    1. In a one stop shopping environment - are you collecting donations?

    2. Are donations being collected for only the products you have in your cart?

    3. How are you handling communications across venues - how does  contact us on your website work?

    4. Who has access to the orders created via the web, or the web user?

    5. How and who updates the content of the site? Synopsis? Images? CMS?

    6. What is the experience like coming from another orgs website when you click the buy button?  Are you carrying over branding for their site? Are you using a neutral branding scheme?

These are just a few of the top of mind items, there are many other items - we could discuss more offline if you would like, it's a bit complicated for a posting.  I hope these questions help you out.

The web technology team at Tessitura Network is also a great resource, the multi-organization shopping basket can become pretty complex, and there are a lot of business decisions that need to be made.

  • Hi Dan - thanks so much for this information. It's good to know we're not alone.

We're actually working on implementation across 4 venues at the moment and we're hoping to go live in January. There aren't many venues in the UK who operate in the way that Ticketing Network East Midlands will - certainly no one sharing a shopping basket.

There are a couple of issues here that we've also identified, but some new ones too! I think we'll be working through as many of these as possible over the next month or two. I'll keep in touch in case we can help each other out.

    Thanks again!
