Targeted Text Messages for Important Info

Hi,

We had a major program change that affected our three season opening performances. This is the biggest program change we've had. We sent out emails to all ticket buyers affected but our email open rate is not great and we started to think if there was a way to alert people via text message for this, and moving forward for emergency concert notifications. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to do this or companies that you use to do this? We are a seasonal summer festival so we would be looking for something along the lines of monthly subscription or paid per use. I tried searching the network and TN Mobile kept popping up but we are not set up for that.

Thank you,

Beth

  • Hi Beth,

We use a service called prodocom for SMS customer notifications (it's Australian - so you will need to look for a stateside equivalent) - its not affiliated with Tess and is not integrated but we pay a retainer - it will sms patrons from a CSV file you have provided - all set up for a message is within their application.

We had some issues getting the CSV file data into a consistent format from Tess to use within their application so we had to do some back end coding to create a local view called 'sms  mobile' and then create an output set for that which we could export to a CSV). The local view accounted for bad user entry of mobile numbers so we could reach more patrons in an emergency. Again its set to Australian Mobile format at the moment but happy to share it if you like.

In general (backed up by good documentation, training and process) we can notify patrons of a cancelled show / incident which may affect their travel to the venue within 30 - 60 mins depending on the size the show and any delays in delivery.

Hope this gives you some ideas.

    Thanks
