WordPress Websites

Hello,

We would love to know who here designed the websites without the help of an external designer (so, your internal team did the designing) and did so using WordPress.  If so what did you find your biggest challenges to be?

Thank you!

  • We did. Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Challenges can vary depending on your level of expertise in Wordpress and PHP. We built a custom theme, but we continue to use TNEW integration because we don't have the expertise or resources for custom API development. The only real challenge we've had is that there were inherent conflicts with our versions of Bootstrap CSS/JS and Jquery loads that didn't play nice with those used in TNEW v7. In version 6 we could use a Wordpress page as a TNEW template, but with version 7 we were forced to move to a static HTML file for the TNEW template because of the conflicts described above. Not a huge issue, but we had to simplify our UI/menus for the template so we wouldn't have to update that static HTML file every time we added an education class, et. al.

In the end, it's a minor issue, especially considering how vastly superior v7 is to v6.

If your internal team has the requisite skill in customizing Wordpress (theme creation/customization, stylesheets, PHP template files) then it's not much of a challenge. If you do not have this level of expertise, your ability to customize a Wordpress install will be limited.
