I'm giving this another go - i'd like to limit the available payment methods for TNEW orders with a Gift Voucher 'purchase' and was wondering if anyone had tips out there for creating this cart logic.

If you are asking about how to not allow Gift Certificates to be used as payment for some events....that is not possible. We are a presenting and producing house and I want to not allow gift certificates to be used on events that are rentals to us. But that is not possible with TNEW. I recently opened an enhancement with the request of being able to control gift certificate payment mode via performance, production season, season - anything actually! The dyn_payment table is not helpful for this. I tried it and asked support as well.
My issue is about limiting the payment methods used in buying gift vouchers but i think the issue is similar. I hit a dead end when exploring the set up of a separate web security group for gv purchases (to limit the payment methods avaliable) and it was suggested that "You might be able to look at a customisation for your web to add some logic to the checkout process where if MOS = XXX then only off payment types = X,Y,Z. That way it limits the choices at time of payment selection based on the MOS used in the cart."
Currently we do gvs through on account contributions as a work around but it's a bit of an effort.

Resurrecting this question. Did anyone ever figure out how to limit Payment Methods by Season or event in TNEW?
As far as I'm aware security group is still the only way to limit payment methods other than a custom evaluation. The Dynamic payment Method Table (as you mentioned) is a no go. You'd need a Web MOS in a different security group for your rentals.
