Hello,
Our website uses the CMS called Mezzanine for static pages and we use TNEW for transactional pages. Currently, the search window only searches through pages organized by the Mezzanine CMS. I would like to include TNEW pages as well however our web developer claims that they can't access TNEW pages in the normal site to display results. Any ideas if it is possible?
Thanks in advance, Sabina
You might be able to use something like Sphider to index your TNEW pages and add them into your search function. Worth an explore anyway.
Hi William, thank you for your suggestion. Am I wrong assuming that all TNEW pages are indexed by Google?
I believe they are although you will have to forgive me, I'm not fully up to speed with that side of TNEW so don't know to what extent the schema is setup. Although it is indexed by Google unless you use a custom Google search bar within your site you will need to do your own indexing that your search system can refer to so it can find the pages. This might be what your developer is referring to with the difficulty in getting things setup.Quick disclaimer though this is just my assumptions from an outside point of view so take with a pinch of salt
I defer to William's experience in regards to Google proper, but I can confirm that LIVE TNEW sites are indeed built to be be spidered by Google and other search engines by default. So yes, Google knows about your TNEW site. As for how to make sure your individual site search indexing can reach your TNEW pages, of that I'm not certain.
Matt, thank you for your comment. TNEW pages of our website can be found through Google search ( talking from experience when users were able to find TNEW pages we actually didn't want them to find yet) but not through our site search bar.
