TNEW v6 Adjusting Ticket Limits

Based on my searches on the topic, I'm led to believe there isn't a way to adjust ticket limits in TNEW v6 without affecting general sales, however, this could potentially change in v7.

Would someone be able to confirm this, in the event I'm wrong? If so, how would I be able to make the necessary adjustments?

  • There is not a _good_ way to do it.  TNEW generally advises that for ticket limits you apply a global Offer (or set of Offers) on the performance in question, as Offers can be configured with a ticket limit.  This can be a modest amount of work, depending on things like how many Modes of Sale you use online, and it is annoying for the customer because there is not built in messaging or control until after you have attempted to reserve too many seats (so you'll want some kind of reserve page message as well to alert people that even though it looks like they can reserve six tickets, the limit is actually for (for example).

    You can't bump a ticket limit _up_ (i.e. over the limit defined for the API server).  I believe this is also a limitation in v7.  I'm hoping that when we move to v7 we'll be able to ratchet our API limit way up (to 30 or something, whatever we might want Group Sales to top out at) and then use a product rule for our regular season performances to knock that back down to six, and finally use performance configuration to move individual performances up and down.
