SEO vs. Queue-it (Virtual waiting room)

Hello we are new-ish Tessitura users. Our website went live in May 2017. We have been using Queue-it  as a virtual waiting room. It has worked very well and we have gotten good feedback from customers. However  as we have looked more into our SEO it looks like Queue-it is blocking TNEW's ability to have decent search engine optimization. Our front end (custom designed) website works well - for example if I put up a blog post about a show, it appears high on the rankings of google. However the actual shows in TNEW don't show up unless we turn off Queue-it for several days.

Turning off Queue-it for long periods of time is not a good solution. The whole idea of plunking down money for Queue-it  was so that we wouldn't have to be surprised by high traffic flow. Tessitura help has said that most companies in our position design the front end of the website so that it is SEO friendly for all shows... as we just went through an expensive website re-design when we upgraded to Tessitura.

Any suggestions? Anyone else in the same boat?

  • Hi R.J.,

I don't know for sure if this is what is causing your problem, but I'll mention it... Queue-it has the ability to whitelist good bots, like Googlebot. Essentially, triggers are set up based on a definition of those good bots and then an Ignore action is defined using those triggers to ensure those bots go through without a Queue-it check or redirect.

I'm not sure how Queue-it is set up and supported in the TNEW context, as we have a custom site. So, you may need to contact Tessitura support before going to Queue-it directly for help with that.

    I hope this helps.

  • Thanks David - we have gone to Tessitura help and there seems to be issue with how TNEW and how Tessitura interact. Tessitura reached out to Queue-it and their response was

"it looks like this has not been an issue for our other clients as generally they are concerned with indexing their main marketing websites and not TNEW." Which seems a bit odd to me. I figure there would be a good number of box offices that would want TNEW to show up on searches? Figured I would post here to see what other folks are doing.
