Buy One Get One Free

Good Afternoon

We are currently going through a blueprint phase for a redevelopment of our site.  As part of one of the ticketing and pricing issues we would like to develop buy one get one free (BOGOF) functionality for offers.

I was wondering if anyone else had implemented this and what logic did you use when adding tickets to the purchase path.

I was thinking there might be two ways to implement this.  Firstly if a customer adds two tickets to the cart we could apply a 50% discount to each ticket.  Or Secondly add a Comp Ticket to the ticket basket.

Any suggestions would be great!

Also is anyone doing pay what you can online?

Thanks

Nick

  • We've done a handful buy-one-get-one-frees, using the 50% discount method. We went that way primarily so we could accomplish this sort of offer without any customization to the purchase path. So it's been basically an offer that unlocks a 50% price type.  It works great because we aren't actually limiting people to multiples of 2. (Someone buying 3 gets 50% off the third ticket as well). If that's not your intended result, it may be the downside. We've also never had anyone purchase less than 2, even though they could. Not that it's too surprising, since singles are rare in general.
