Payment Plans on the Web for Consortium Member

Our Symphony group is interested in offering payment plan options to subscribers this year and I'm struggling with one aspect of setup: how to limit the payment plans that show up on their TNEW payment page.  The payment plan documentation says to use control groups to limit the payment plans that display here but I am drawing a blank on how to accomplish this. They literally want only one option here and nowhere can I find a way to make just one of their payment plans show up. Additionally, there are a number of payment plans that are "(Default Control Group)" that I cannot stop from showing up. Help?

  • I just had to do this for our organization, as it turns out! We generally don't use control groups in our organization, but I ended up having to set one up just to be able to use payment plans in TNEW.

    1. In the Security Application, I created a control group called "Payment Plans" and put all the users that needed to be able to use all the other payment plans into this control group. In order for this to work, I had to be sure I wasn't including our web user group in this control group.
    2. In TR_BILLING_SCHEDULE, I switched all of the payment plans that we didn't want appearing online from the "(Default Control Group)" to the "Payment Plans" control group. I also made sure to leave the payment plans we did want available in TNEW under the "(Default Control Group)" so that our web user could still access them.

I did it this way because we had other user groups that needed to be able to access both the subscription billing schedules and the other existing schedules. Based on your post, I'm guessing you're in the same boat, so hopefully the above process would work for you, too.

This is currently the only control group we have in place, so this was a bit of an experiment on our part, but it seems to be doing the trick. We've had subscribers successfully renewing and purchasing new subscriptions through our TNEW site for the last month and half, and several have used the payment plan option.

Hope this helps! I'd be happy to answer any follow up questions, so just let me know if I need to clarify anything.

  • You are my new favorite person. I had a mental block and was trying to segment down access via control groups instead of scaling up - this worked a treat :)

    Thank you so much,
