Question RE: TNEW Event Sales for Comp/Paid Split

Good afternoon all,

We're going to be doing a ticketed event next month which will be free for our existing donor base and subscribers/ticket buyers but is a paid event for members of the general public.

We've never done something like this in TNEW before, so I'm curious if anyone has had experience doing a similar event before that might be able to offer some advice since we're on a very limited timetable to prepare for this.

I know that we are going to need to build some type of pricing rule that recognizes login information for our existing customers to path them into a free ticket while anyone else gets sent to a paid transaction path, but it'd be great to have some input from somebody with a history of doing this with success.

Thank you!

Brian

  • Follow-up...

I opted to create a Promo Code (our first live one since we got TNEW) so that we have a single TNEW landing page for all people interested in the event and we can still enable free admission for our desired audience while keeping paid admission on across the board.

As some of you might know from me, our ticketing data goes through ProVenue because of our PAC so all of our other data lives in Tessitura. As a result, I was struggling with figuring out how we would enable free admission to existing donors and subscribers since only half of that data is up-to-date in our Tess instance.

Having a promo code and being able to share that with the free admission crowd (or embed into the URL for them) should work nicely.

I'm still curious if anybody else has done this in more elegant ways though, as it's likely I'll need to do a similar setup on a different event in the future.

    Thank you,

    Brian
