Hi,
I am looking into the possibilities of using tessitura to store contest information. Has anyone done this? Where are you storing the data, are you using custom tables or existing tessitura structures?
Thanks in advance,
Jon
We have an attribute: Enter to Win. The key value is the contest name. All the contact info goes in the customer record like any other. It works for us since so far we haven't needed to store any special information related to the contests other than having a way to know the person entered.
Thank you for sharing I like that idea. Do you track the winning contestant?
If the prize is tickets of some sort, I believe the order notes generally indicate that whatever's in that order was a contest prize, but I don't think it's tracked otherwise in Tessitura.
I'm pretty sure the winners get picked via an extraction of all entered, set to a random % and maximum DL of however many people ought to win. It's possible that gets saved to list. So there may be some saved lists of the winner(s) for various contests.
John -
We have used CSIs in the past which works pretty well.
CSI category of Contest Entry, Activity type of the contest then you just keep adding them until the contest is over, generate a list, do your hokey pokey to pick the winner, then you could note in the winner's CSI that they did, in fact, win. This would also allow you to limit how often a person could enter, etc.

Heather, Great points thank you for the info.
Thank you Amanda and Heather. I think we are going to use the attribute approach.
Thanks Again!
