Exchanges online

Hi all

We are looking for some way to implement exchanges online. I can see that a lot of you are doing exchanges online and I hope you are able to share how you make it work. How is it setup? Also we are using pricerules, does any of you have experience on exchanges where a price rule has been added?

I hope you can help us in the right direction.

Thank you:-)

  • Hi Eva,

We implemented online exchanges a few years ago. It’s been very successful.  I just posted some screenshots and both our Tessitura and CMS setup documentation.

You should be able to access the files here:

Feel free to send me any questions.

    Thanks,
    Patrick

  • Hi Patrick, brilliant thank you. So just to quick sum up, all exchages are done through a MOS exchange, and I guess the switch to that MOS is handled through some web coding, and access to the different price types online, is also setup as web coding, so that you make sure they exchange to the same price type? So the exchange is done one to one, they can exchange one ticket and buy a new, they can't buy two new tickets? And can you help, when you do the exchange is the money put "on account" and then they can pay with them when they book new tickets? Thank you so much for your help, we are wanting to add this to the new website, and we are looking for the best option :-)

  • Hi Eva--

I think I've answered all your questions below:

    • Yes, we use a specific exchange MOS.
    • That MOS has to be on both the performances that the user is exchanging out of and into.
    • We create a new order and use the ReturnTicket method, which puts a credit on the new order. We then add the new seats to this order and use the credit to pay for the new line items.
    • If there is a differential credit, that goes into a "Sub Exchange Differential" fee, which I believe is just setup as a fee rule (as opposed to web logic). If there is a negative differential, the user has to pay for the difference with a credit card.
    • We only permit exchanging within the same pricetype.
    • You are correct, they can only exchange for the same quantity they are exchange out of. Meaning, they can exchange 1 for 1, or 2 for 2, but they can't add additional tickets.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,
    Patrick

  • Hi Patrick,

We too are looking at introducing Exchanges online, are you able to send me the documentation you mentioned above, as the links don't seem to open for me?

Also, for the exchanged tickets do you get the old tickets back or proof of their destruction somehow?

    Thanks

    Lynn

  • Hi Lynn,

It looks like maybe those files were dropped in the recent Tessitura site redesign. I've posted them below.  I should note that the screenshots are from an older version of our site. The functionality is still the same, but everything looks much nicer and is responsive in the new world.

We don't bother getting the old tickets back as proof. I think we have messaging that tells them they must destroy the old tickets. We also have N-SCAN in place.

Let me know if you have any other questions on this.
