TESSITURA_INVALID_SESSION_EXCEPTION vs "Invalid session ID"

The SOAP API documentation says that several methods, like LoggedIn or LoginInfo, can yield either a TESSITURA_INVALID_SESSION_EXCEPTION or "Invalid session ID".  In what cases would it yield one or the other?
