Add on Performances in TNEW

Hello Tessitura Wizards!!

We're a fairly new venue and are launching our season next week.  I'm trying to find the quickest most elegant way to do this and have the season launch on TNEW on Wednesday!

Season Setup

Multiple flex packages (Music, Theater, Dance, etc).  We have two high value shows we're using to bump up number of shows purchased. For example, the music package has 8 performances you must buy a minimum of 4 but if you want to see one of the high value shows, you must purchase 5 performances to get the 6th high value show. Not all packages allow for 5 shows within them so for many, they'll have to purchase a CYO package.

We also have 9 other events that can only be purchased as add on events and are not part of the series.

Challenge

(1) TNEW how to offer up the 2 high value events based on cart contents?  Or do we just go the old fashioned route and the box office notifies everyone who has the option?

An initial recommendation was to use the FTR_TNEW_DYN_EMAIL_CONTENT but I'm not seeing how this would work unless it will offer them up based on all flex packages having the SubPKG price type?

(2) TNEW how to offer up the other 9 add on events?  Since they can't be purchased as a series I feel we should just place them as part of the CYO flex package.

Any wisdom from out there would be most appreciated.

  • Hi Michelle,

If I understand correctly, challenge 2 sounds like an extension of challenge 1. Anytime you are talking about offering something based on cart contents, that would be a pre-cart customization.

In both challenges, I supposed you could create two flex pkg's specific to including the 2 high value shows and the other to include the 9 add-on events.

Then you would offer the option of the high value pkg and if you get a yes, send them to the flex pkg page to select the perfs. If they say no, you can offer them the 9 add on shows and if they say yes, send them to the flex pkg page to select the add on perfs. To backtrack for a minute, if they said yes to the 2 high value shows, you can still then offer the 9 add on perfs.

I hope that makes sense. Feel free to PM me.

  • Hi Steven:

Thank you!!!  Yes it makes sense and it's an excellent solution!  What we ended up doing which is a bit of work for our associates, but a great fix.

We forced the Add on events to only be available if the cart has a subscription package.

Added a link back to the Events.aspx page where all the add on events populate with a note in the cart "to add additional single tickets to your subscription or special events CLICK HERE."

Changed the "Not On Sale" messaging to read "These tickets are only available through a subscription."

For the high value events we removed the Internet Subs MOS and added a special code and made that code have access to the web.  Finally, I created an extraction that pulls a list of all qualifying subs for the high value events (5 or more performances). Qualifiers are sent an e-mail at the end of the day with a special access code.  When they get to our site they enter the code and viola, the two high value show appear and they can purchase tickets

I wish I could take credit for this genius idea but Melissa Champ, Boann Peterson and Suzie Davidson guided us through the entire process along with our excellent consortium lead.  I'm very grateful!!!

  • Wow, that's quite the workaround! Something to keep in mind (if you haven't been made aware of this) is the "Not On Sale" message is across TNEW. Meaning if you have a performance on TNEW that's unrelated to said packages and is indeed sold-out, the message will still read "....available through subscription". Might be a tricky situation if there isn't any inventory.

Glad it's working out and hope it continues!
