Dropping a play from a saved order online

Question for the hive...

Here's the scenario: considering a 4-play package for subscription renewal. There is a small (but loyal) subset of our audience who strongly prefer  a 3-play package. We're considering providing them with an option to "drop one" of the productions in package. As this is a renewing order, we need to keep them in their original seats and series for the remaining productions—just want to remove the "offending" title (note, they can drop any of the 4 plays).

It is my understanding that when dealing with a saved package order (i.e. renewal order) online...

  • You cannot remove SubLineItems.
  • It is not possible to change the price value (not price type) of the SLIs using UpdateSubLineItemPrice (because it is a saved package order)
  • ApplyDiscount Method can be applied to packages, but only at the Package level (not SLI) [How does this work, though—isn't price attached at play-by-by, SLI-by-SLI level?)
  • And "negative value" discounts exist completely in my imagination.

Is this correct? Would it be possible to use ApplyDiscountMethod and set the discount to 25% (1/4 of total order)? (Have in mind of passing the dropped production title back via a custom notes field we already have in place, so I'm really just asking how I can get the money to "work out" online—unless someone is a magician and has a fix for me).

Any insights or thoughts would be much appreciated.

Cheers...
