Online Shop Platforms

Hello!

I would be really interested to hear from any organisation that has an online shop and what platforms, i.e. magento, shopify etc. being used to host this, whether the shop was previously integrated with the website directly, is part of the same domain or a sub-domain.

Thanks,

Caspian

  • I'd be interested to hear how others manage this too.

    We manage ours through Tessitura and erube (L2's CMS) and it's integrated: http://opera.org.au/buytickets/shop

    Thanks for the reply Adriana! I realise that I didn't mention what we're currently using.

    At the moment we're using Ubercart in Drupal, it is integrated through Tessitura by processing the money as fees in a ticketing order, this is to allow a shared Ticket/Shop/Donation basket.

    This has been a bit limiting in terms of reporting, stock control & promotions which is why we're investigating other purpose built platforms that may offer richer functionality, 'off-the-shelf'.

    Thanks,

    Caspian

  • Hi Caspian,

    When I was with First Stage, we used Episerve which is the CSM suggested by Adage Technologies to use if they are your web vendor. It’s a pretty robust CMS that gives the end users quite a bit of control over the management of their website. There is also TNEW if what you are looking for is the e-commerce portion of your website connecting to Tessitura. I have not personally used it but have a product demonstration and seems pretty powerful and has the direct connection to Tessitura. If you are interested in that product, you could reach out to the TNEW team through The Network website for a product demonstration.

    Also, if you’d like contact information from Adage, please feel free to email me personally and I am happy to provide that to you.

  • Hi Caspian,

    We have been using Square for POS purchases for a few events and festivals. We used their online shop (Square Market) for some e-commerce sales in the fall.  It is not integrated into our site or Tessitura.

    Pluses:

    * Easy to setup, turn key

    * Light branding (logo, contact info, etc)

    * Inventory and merchandising tied to Square POS

    * Lightweight order status features

    Minuses:

    * Not Tess integrated

    * Separate domain

    * Separate login

    * 2.75% transaction fees

    * 8% transaction fee for HABO/Pick Up orders

    Basically, if you want to sell t-shirts and the like immediately, it is a suitable solution.

    Please let me know if you need any additional information.

    Thanks,

    Patrick
